About the Sessions

  • Skills that will last a lifetime. These valuable and easy-to-learn skills strengthen us to become the best version of ourselves as a parent.

  • Offered by trained educators. Millions of people have taken the full-version of STEP with in-person classes, but now it is available virtually due to current social distancing.

  • The fee for the entire class (7 sessions) is $49.00. Scholarships available upon request by contacting zoomparentingclass@familykind.org.

  • Registration is on this page - click here. Parents are encouraged to purchase the STEP Parent’s Handbook online but it is not required. steppublishers.com. For more information, contact: zoomparentingclass@familykind.org

  • Weekly handouts will be emailed to each registrant for review prior to and during class.

  • The Zoom link will be given to all registrants. FamilyKind does not share email information with other organizations or class participants.   

  • Please share this invitation with co-parents, extended family members, friends, and colleagues. When the class is over, you’ll have ongoing support available from people who joined you in class as well as FamilyKind professionals.

Ellen Taner On FamilyKind Parenting Education

Ellen Taner

Ellen Taner has been a parenting and family education practitioner and trainer for more than 40 years. In addition to the work she provides to FamilyKind as the Director of Program Development; she works with several national organizations that promote the quality of evidence-based programs, support the highest standards of professionalism in the field, and advocate for policies to establish parenting and family education as the norm and a recognized profession.
Ellen received her Masters of Health Education from Teachers’ College, Columbia University, embarked on a career in public health and has served as an adjunct at Montclair State University in the Family Science and Human Development Department. She is a Master Trainer for the Strengthening Families Program for Parents and Youth 10-14, as well as a trainer of the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting, Celebrating Families!, Children in Between and Parenting Wisely.

Roque Bonilla Jr. Parent Educator  For FamilyKind

Roque Bonilla, Jr.

Roque Bonilla, Jr., a volunteer and parent educator  for  FamilyKind is a Parent Coordinator for the New York City Department of Education providing vital resources to parents as well as providing the students of New York City with a quality education. He is also a Leadership and Sports Specialist for the New York Edge After-School program, where they provide middle school and high school students with life skills as well as leadership and advocacy skills. He is  also a Facilitator and Site Coordinator providing valuable advocacy and civic skills to Adults, as well as Middle School and High School students with the National Family Leaders Training Institute, a sub-division of New Visions for Public Schools. He possesses over 30 years of knowledge and resources in ethics, government and advocacy. Roque received his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Hostos Community College.
